Our Story

Hi, I'm Dylan, the founder of DFM Beanies!

DFM stands for "Destined For More" — a reminder that no matter how small or overlooked something may seem, it carries value and purpose.

Our logo, the sparrow, represents this belief. Sparrows are often overlooked, yet they are resilient and full of life!

In the summer of 2023, I cared for a fledgling sparrow that had fallen from its nest. I gave him the name Fletcher. Over time, he grew so comfortable that he perched on my finger and chirped away as if we'd known each other forever. That tiny bird became a symbol for me — and soon, the mascot for DFM Beanies.

But that's not the end of the story.

In 2025, as I was setting up the business, I heard the faintest "cheep" coming from a small pile of leaves beside a rubbish bin on my way home. Another little sparrow, fallen from its nest. I rang local vets, but none were able to take her in. In an area busy with cats, I was advised her best chance was an overnight stay at DFM headquarters. So into the car she came — along with everything needed to care for her. For lack of a better name, I simply called her Little One.

That night, Little One chirped quietly on the DFM desk while I was setting up the business.

I had been told she might not survive the night. But I was determined to do my absolute best.

Little One didn't make it. But her story lives on in this brand. These sweet little birds — small, sometimes overlooked, full of life — matter. They now live on in the spirit of DFM.

At DFM, we carry this same philosophy into everything we make. Every beanie is designed with care, comfort, and individuality in mind.
